As the story unfolds, budding romance intersects with political intrigue as two couples find themselves uniquely affected by their involvement with each other and the war. All the while, just below the surface, each struggles between the contrasting emotional demands of self-preservation and duty to country. What choices will they make and what is the legacy they will leave behind?
