Book excerpt: Excerpt from Weather Crops and Markets, Vol. 1: Published Weekly by the United States Department of Agriculture; March 11, 1922 The increase in peanut oil prices has been reflected in the considerably higher prices asked for farmers' goods. On Feb. 28 mills were paying 870 - 873 per ton, delivered, for farmers' grade Spanish in Georgia and Ala bama, and $65 per ton, delivered, for Runners. Probably only 572 to 1070 of the Spanish crop in the Southeast _is still unsold and practically no Runners are now obtain able. This scarcity oi peanuts, coupled with the rise in the price of oil has caused speen lators to become active in some sections. Considerable inquiry is reported as develop ing for farmers' stoc in middle Georgia and some sales have been made to growers in that section for planting purposes.
